This page lists ideas and encouragements for us to love God and people enough to share.

Simple steps to help you break out of your shell:

 1. Every day, pray for God to prepare people’s hearts and to place them in your path, and to give you the right words to say, and to give you boldness, and so on.

  • Even the apostles wanted prayer for sharing the Gospel boldly and clearly! (e.g. Acts 4:29, 2 Corinthians 10:1, Ephesians 6:19-20, Colossians 4:3-4).

2. Practice starting a conversation with strangers (on any topic).

  • This will help you become more comfortable talking to people, if that doesn’t come naturally for you.
  • Take an interest in people. Everyone has a story!

3. Practice helping people.

  • Throughout the day, say something like, “Lord, who can we help today?” This puts you in a good frame of mind for finding opportunities to be a servant, and for helping people by sharing the Gospel (when you’re ready), and it acknowledges that it’s the Lord working through you.
  • Let people see your faith in action (e.g. James 2:14-18, Romans 12:16-13:1, Philippians 1:27). Actions speak louder than words, and we are the only “Bibles” that non-Christians are reading!

4. Practice talking about God in everyday conversations.

  • You might not be ready to give a full presentation of the Gospel, but this step will help you become more comfortable switching conversations over to spiritual topics.

Everyone’s greatest need is Jesus.  He is the truth, way, and life that we need.  Everyone is on a journey to forever, and Jesus is the only way to the Father.  Will we love people enough to help them on their journey?

I like telling people “Merry Christmas”.  This is not just any holiday that we celebrate.  The main idea of Christmas is that Jesus the Christ came to earth to die for our sins.  Telling people “Merry Christmas” is an easy way to use a name for Jesus.

What about committing to tell or show Jesus’ love to at least one non-believer every day?  Can’t we reach out to at least one?  Yes we can.  We can tell one friend that we love them because Jesus loves them.  We can help one stranger and give Jesus the credit.

You can get ready to share your testimony.  (A testimony is a story of what God has done for you.)  Think of three things: 1) what you were like before Jesus, 2) what Jesus did for you, 3) what you are like now.  Put those three into a short story of what God has done – keep it less than 100 words.  Practice it a little, so you can remember the basic flow of the story, then pray that God gives you opportunities to share it respectfully.
